MINUSBAGS ARE BETTER THAN
PLASTIC BAGS BECAUSE:

you can carry a heavy load of
groceries across town and the bag
handle won't cut off the
circulation in your fingers!

you can buy a dozen Krispy
Cremes all for yourself and no one
will be able to see them in your
minusbag!

and oh yeah, they're pretty!

The idea for minusbags began after I tried to stuff yet another batch of
plastic bags into the little holder under my sink. I realized that the constant
trips to the grocery store for my family of four had caused me to accumulate
an obscene amount of plastic. And in NYC, plastic bags are not recycled. I
knew it was finally time to "go green" and get myself some reusable grocery
bags, so I went online in search of them. I found that the choices for good
looking, functional bags were non-existent. Around town, the only bags I
saw being used were corporate freebies plastered with ugly logos, or the
ones sold by the big supermarket chains -- but I don't want to be a walking
billboard. So I did the only thing any self-respecting graphic designer would
do-- I designed one myself.

I create the designs in my studio in Brooklyn, NY and then send them off to
New Hampshire where they are hand-stitched and screen printed by a small
family owned company that is Fair Labor Association certified. Like myself,
they take great pride in their work and it shows in the quality of the bags.
And all the materials used to make them are made in the U.S.

I hope that the stylish and functional design of
minusbags will encourage
more people to carry their own bags to the grocery store. It makes sense
environmentally and they look good, too.
If we each make a small change
in our lives, then collectively we can create a big impact on the world.
